Lila Sets a Milestone: Publishing Expert Thomas Pichler Joins the Team

Müller - Die lila Logistik SE announces: Effective January 1, 2026, Thomas Pichler will assume
the role of Managing Director at Lila Logistik for the
Books & Media division in Blaufelden. Working closely with
Christoph Schaupp, he will drive
the expansion and further development of this division. With this move, the renowned Contract logistics provider from Besigheim—which
currently employs approximately 2,400 people—is consistently advancing its growth and
transformation strategy. In addition to technological
investments in automation and digitalization, the company
is also taking the necessary next step in its
organizational development. 


With Thomas Pichler, Lila Logistik is bringing an experienced and proven top manager
from the publishing world on board. Since joining Bertelsmann as a controller in 1996, Thomas Pichler has
played a key role in establishing the Penguin Random House publishing group
in Munich (Bertelsmann Group) as a leading player in the industry. After holding
various positions both in Germany and abroad, Thomas Pichler was appointed Managing
Director/CFO in 2014 and additionally named COO in 2019.

“Some 30 years in the publishing world have shaped my passion for the book industry.
I am all the more excited to now continue on this path in Publishing Logistics. The
move to Müller - Die lila Logistik SE is an incredibly exciting next
step in my career, one in which I can actively contribute my extensive experience to the company’s future

great confidence in me,” said the new Managing Director, Thomas Pichler.

The initial focus will be on expanding Publishing Logistics. This involves not
only further technological enhancements (AutoStore and capacity
expansion at the Blaufelden site) but also the intelligent and strategic
development of our business and service areas in additional market segments. “We
remain fully committed to automation, digitalization, and
growth—with Thomas Pichler, we are bringing an experienced and
results-oriented manager on board who, together with his team, will play a key role in shaping our future as
a group. We are very much looking forward to working with him,
