At a Glance

German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) stand for sustainable strength, long-term thinking, and continuous development. This distinction as one of the TOP 50 medium-sized companies confirms precisely these qualities and is based on a comprehensive, data-driven evaluation model. The focus is not on short-term metrics, but on factors such as innovative strength, stability, and corporate responsibility.

This makes it clear: Excellence does not arise sporadically, but through consistent development and strategic direction. A ranking among the TOP 50 underscores this development and demonstrates how companies achieve long-term success through substance, continuity, and clear values. At the same time, the accompanying interview offers additional insights into the perspectives, strategies, and challenges facing SMEs.

Germany’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are not an abstract concept, but a living reality. The economic strength of many regions stems from companies whose brands are virtually unknown to outsiders, yet whose products and services are in demand worldwide. They invest not in prestige, but in sustainability. And they rarely think in terms of quarters—but rather in terms of generations.

The TOP 50 ranking by Markt und Mittelstand now visualizes this on a national scale: the country’s top SMEs. It is based on the established “Mittelstand 10,000” survey by Die Deutsche Wirtschaft (DDW), which, with 39 key indicators, measures far more than just revenue and headcount.

The survey produces the SME ranking—a data-driven analysis. A scientifically developed index that focuses not on short-term PR successes, but on substance, continuity, and contribution to overall economic stability. Innovation is made measurable, responsibility is made visible—and excellence is recognized for what it truly is: a process, not a trophy.

The result: Müller – Lila Logistik is among the TOP 50 SME Logistics Companies for 2025/2026.
