LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup

Coincidences set the course for the future! I was just in the right place at the right time.      – Heinz Betz, Radsportakademie

What a happy coincidence. Two passionate cyclists crossed paths, got along well, and decided to organize a cycling event to support social projects for children. This is what happened when Heinz Betz, Managing Director of the Radsportakademie and former cyclist, and Michael Müller, CEO at Müller - Die lila Logistik, met. The idea has grown into one of the largest charity events in Southern Germany: The annual Charity Bike Cup which has been taking place since 2007. Various teams, led by prominent team captains, compete against each other. The entire proceeds go to regional children's aid projects in the community that hosts the Charity Bike Cup. Since 2017, cities and municipalities are able to apply nationwide.

2017 | 11th LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup in Lorsch (Hessen)

The 11th LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup took place in the beautiful city of Lorsch in Hesse. With Christian Schönung, Mayor of Lorsch, himself an enthusiastic cyclist, stirred up some promotional excitement for the event.

The weather was gracious. After heavy rain the night before, it stopped in time for the team presentation of the LILA Race participants. The first two laps of the LILA Races began on wet roads but ended on an almost dry road while the sun broke through the clouds.

The children's rounds and the LILA Tour were attended by an increased number of visitors due to the good weather. All in all, the over 800 starters were cheered on by 5,000 visitors!

With donations of €30,000, the premiere in Lorsch was a great success. Now it's time to specifically select and promote the children's projects in Lorsch and the surrounding area.

2016 | 10th LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup in Ditzingen-Heimerdingen

2016 was an anniversary year at LILA Logistik. This included the LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup. For the tenth time, cyclists started at the LILA RACE and the LILA TOUR and pedaled for a good cause for the fifth time in Heimerdingen! A total of 1000 starters, the annual raffle, and other donations ended with a total donation amount of €42,000. This supported many regional projects for children.

The day started early and slightly damp for the LILA RACE participants, but the weather deterred no one. The circuit through Heimerdingen, Hemmingen, Hochdorf, and Eberdingen was cycled by 500 starters.

Just in time for lunch and the start of the children's race, it became cloudless and the sun was shining again over the entire track. After the children's race, the LILA TOURers were able to get on the track. Fully motivated, they made their rounds. Some managed the maximum distance of 60km, even though they hadn't expected themselves to cycle so far.

We are happy to support the initiative of the team captains for the first time in South Africa (iThemba Labantu). South Africa is often part of the training camp for the season preparation in cycling. Since 2006, the underprivileged and marginalized children in the townships of Cape Town, South Africa, have been offered high-quality early school education. Some team captains of the Charity Bike Cup, including Hanka Kupfernagel, are already supporting this project.

Marbach, Affalterbach, Hochdorf and Poppenweiler were the cities along the route of the 9th LILA LOGISTICS Charity Bike Cup. Sunshine and bright-eyed visitors and participants were the best foundation for the two parts of the event: the LILA RACE and the LILA TOUR.

The participants started the LILA RACE in the morning. There was a great mood running through all 12 teams throughout the 20 km circuit.

At early noon, the young talents were allowed to show what they are capable of at the children's race. The children's race is the actual highlight of the event day. After everyone had arrived back home safely with sparkling eyes, the LILA Tour started.

At the start of the LILA TOUR there were about 500 cyclists. This number deserves an extra big applause and thanks. The individual teams cycled with success, guided by their team captains on the track.

New track? New challenge! Ditzingen-Heimerdingen provided a round course for the 3rd annual Charity Bike Cup! The cooperation with the city of Ditzingen and the surrounding communities was very constructive and in no time, the event was planned.

On October 3, 2009, 700 cyclists, many of them returning participants, were welcomed. "We already know each other." This was the essence of Heinz Betz's welcoming speech. It was nice to see so many familiar faces,
