1,200 participants and a new fundraising record of 60,000 euros for children in need. The LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup has once again set new standards in Marbach am Neckar.
The LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup is all about having a lot of fun—both on the bike and along the route. But the most important thing is that it helps those who need it most: children in need. All proceeds go to STAR CARE (www.starecare.de). The charity then selects projects in the region to support with the funds. This year, the previous fundraising record was broken: Over 60,000 euros were raised for charitable causes.
Once again this year, there was no reason to complain about the weather. It was dry, sunny, and up to 25 degrees. It only got a little windy toward the end. The atmosphere was correspondingly good—both among the riders and among the thousands of spectators along the route. In the towns along the route—Affalterbach, Hochdorf, and Poppenweiler—there was a street party in each, with live commentary on the race action in Affalterbach and Hochdorf. A total of 160 volunteers at the start and finish areas as well as along the route ensured that the event ran smoothly.
The highlight of the day—alongside the LILA Race in the morning and the LILA Tour in the afternoon—was once again the kids’ races. First, the kindergarteners took to the 400-meter circuit, some on balance bikes. Afterward, the elementary school kids really picked up the pace. A total of 90 kids zoomed through the start and finish area.
The response from participants was overwhelmingly positive. The route in particular (Marbach am Neckar – Affalterbach – Hochdorf – Poppenweiler – Marbach am Neckar) generated a lot of enthusiasm. However, participants will have to be patient until the next edition. The LILA LOGISTIK Charity Bike Cup is held in the “City of Schiller” only once every four years. Next year, the event will take place again on October 3 in Ditzingen-Heimerdingen. Returning participants will confirm: it’s a top destination.
